Description
A hearty and comforting casserole with layers of chili, hot dogs, and crispy tater tots topped with sharp cheddar cheese.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 hot dogs or smoked sausages, sliced
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons chili seasoning
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (10-ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chilies
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 (32-ounce) bag frozen tater tots
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until fully browned. Drain excess grease.
- Sauté the onion in the skillet for 3–4 minutes until softened, then add garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Combine chili seasoning, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes in the skillet. Stir well and let simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- Prepare the crockpot by spraying the inside with cooking spray.
- Layer half of the chili mixture in the crockpot, followed by the sliced hot dogs and half of the cheddar cheese.
- Add an even layer of frozen tater tots on top, pressing down gently.
- Cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 2.5–3 hours.
- Finish by adding the remaining cheddar cheese 15 minutes before serving.
- Serve hot, garnished with green onions, sour cream, or jalapeños.
Notes
Customize with different cheeses or add black beans and corn for extra nutrition.
