Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (for marinade)
- 1 tsp cornstarch (for marinade)
- 1 tsp sesame oil (for marinade)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (for stir-fry sauce)
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce (for stir-fry sauce)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar (for stir-fry sauce)
- 1 tbsp brown sugar (for stir-fry sauce)
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (for stir-fry sauce)
- 1/2 cup beef broth (for stir-fry sauce)
- 1 tsp cornstarch (for stir-fry sauce)
Instructions
- Marinate the beef: In a bowl, combine thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil, letting this marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Prepare the sauce: Whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, beef broth, and cornstarch in a separate bowl and set aside.
- Cook the beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat and cook the marinated beef for 3-4 minutes until golden brown; remove and set aside.
- Cook the vegetables: Add the remaining oil to the skillet, toss in the diced red bell pepper and chopped green onions, stir-frying for 3-4 minutes, then add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Combine everything: Return the beef to the skillet, pour in the sauce, and stir constantly for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle extra chopped green onions on top and serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
Notes
Marinate the beef overnight for deeper flavor. Consider using an air fryer for healthier cooking.
