Spicy Black Pepper Chicken Stir-Fry

Description

A vibrant and flavorful stir-fry combining tender chicken, colorful bell peppers, and a rich black pepper sauce, served over fluffy white rice.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 white onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • Fresh cilantro (for garnish)
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup water or chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Combine the sliced chicken with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and half of the cornstarch in a bowl. Let it marinate for about 5-10 minutes.
  2. Prepare the sauce by whisking together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, minced garlic, water or broth, and the leftover cornstarch in a small bowl.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in your wok or skillet over high heat until it’s shimmering. Add the chicken and sear it for 3-4 minutes until browned.
  4. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside. In the same wok, pour in the remaining oil, add the chopped bell peppers and sliced onion. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the wok and drizzle the prepared sauce over everything. Toss continuously for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro and serve over hot fluffy white rice.

Notes

For a healthier version, use an air fryer or bake the chicken. Customize with additional vegetables or different sauces as desired.
