Description
A vibrant and flavorful stir-fry combining tender chicken, colorful bell peppers, and a rich black pepper sauce, served over fluffy white rice.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1/2 white onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- Fresh cilantro (for garnish)
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp freshly cracked black pepper
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup water or chicken broth
Instructions
- Combine the sliced chicken with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and half of the cornstarch in a bowl. Let it marinate for about 5-10 minutes.
- Prepare the sauce by whisking together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, minced garlic, water or broth, and the leftover cornstarch in a small bowl.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in your wok or skillet over high heat until it’s shimmering. Add the chicken and sear it for 3-4 minutes until browned.
- Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside. In the same wok, pour in the remaining oil, add the chopped bell peppers and sliced onion. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
- Return the cooked chicken to the wok and drizzle the prepared sauce over everything. Toss continuously for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro and serve over hot fluffy white rice.
Notes
For a healthier version, use an air fryer or bake the chicken. Customize with additional vegetables or different sauces as desired.
