- 4–5 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- Caramel drizzle or vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the banana mixture: toss sliced bananas with brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl. Pour into a greased baking dish and dot with butter.
- Make the cobbler batter: whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the batter evenly over the banana mixture.
- Add nuts on top if desired.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden and set.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For added richness, serve with vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce. Ripe bananas make for the best flavor.
