- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
- Melt the butter in a large bowl and allow it to cool slightly.
- Stir in the sourdough discard and sugar until well combined.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, and then incorporate the vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mix, folding gently until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips if desired.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let cool before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
For best results, let the brownies cool completely before cutting to prevent crumbling.
