An easy and delicious slow-cooked shredded beef dish, perfect for family dinners and gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 3 lbs Beef Chuck Roast (cut into large chunks)
  • 1 large yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup rich beef bone broth
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • Salt and cracked black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Start by cutting the beef into generous chunks. Pat dry and season with salt and pepper.
  2. If desired, sear the beef chunks in a hot skillet for 2-3 minutes per side.
  3. Transfer the seared beef into your slow cooker.
  4. Add diced onions, minced garlic, beef broth, soy sauce, tomato paste, and herbs. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on LOW for 7 to 8 hours.
  6. For thicker gravy, whisk together cornstarch and water. Stir into the cooking liquid during the last 30 minutes.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare the beef and place it in the slow cooker insert the night before. Cooking alternatives: Use a Dutch oven at 325°F for 3-4 hours.
