Description

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk or heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and prepare your bundt pan by greasing and flouring it thoroughly.
  2. Cream softened butter, shortening, and sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes).
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl, then gradually add this mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan, spreading it evenly.
  7. Bake for approximately 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk (or heavy cream), and vanilla until smooth.
  9. Cool the cake for 10 minutes in the pan before inverting onto a wire rack and drizzling the glaze over it.

Notes

To deepen flavors, bake a day in advance and store covered at room temperature. For a quicker version, consider using an air fryer.
