Description

A comforting dish of tender potatoes layered with savory ham and rich melted cheese, baked to golden perfection.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (such as cheddar or Swiss)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes across the bottom.
  3. Spread half of the diced ham over the potatoes, followed by half of the shredded cheese.
  4. Whisk together the heavy cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
  5. Pour half of the creamy mixture over the first layer in the baking dish.
  6. Repeat layering with the remaining potatoes, ham, cheese, and cream mixture.
  7. Dot the top with butter.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

For a crispy top, broil briefly at the end. Can be made ahead and stored in the fridge before baking.
