- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb Italian sausage
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- 32 oz marinara sauce
- 8 oz pizza sauce
- 3/4 lb penne pasta
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 25 slices pepperoni
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- Pinch red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brown the ground beef and Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until fully cooked.
- Add the diced onion and bell pepper; sauté until softened.
- Drain any excess grease from the meat mixture.
- Stir in beef broth, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, oregano, basil, and garlic salt.
- Pour in marinara and pizza sauce; let simmer for 10 minutes.
- Cook the penne pasta in boiling water until just under al dente; drain.
- Mix the Parmesan cheese into the meat sauce, then stir in the penne pasta.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish; top with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni.
- Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
For a leaner option, replace ground beef with turkey. Customize with additional vegetables if desired.
