Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp hot sauce
  • 32 oz marinara sauce
  • 8 oz pizza sauce
  • 3/4 lb penne pasta
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 25 slices pepperoni
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • Pinch red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef and Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until fully cooked.
  3. Add the diced onion and bell pepper; sauté until softened.
  4. Drain any excess grease from the meat mixture.
  5. Stir in beef broth, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, oregano, basil, and garlic salt.
  6. Pour in marinara and pizza sauce; let simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Cook the penne pasta in boiling water until just under al dente; drain.
  8. Mix the Parmesan cheese into the meat sauce, then stir in the penne pasta.
  9. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish; top with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes.
  12. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For a leaner option, replace ground beef with turkey. Customize with additional vegetables if desired.
