Description

Mongolian Beef is a savory, tender dish featuring crispy beef strips coated in a rich, glossy sauce with garlic, onions, and chilies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • Oil for frying
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 6 dried red chilies
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Toss the beef with cornstarch in a mixing bowl until evenly coated.
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and fry the beef strips until crispy and golden, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté the minced garlic, sliced onions, and dried chilies for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, water, black pepper, and sesame oil in the pan, stirring until the sauce thickens.
  5. Return the crispy beef to the pan and toss gently to coat with the sauce along with green onions, cooking for an additional minute.
  6. Serve hot over steamed rice, garnished with extra green onions and chilies.

Notes

Marinate the beef for extra flavor and use an air fryer for a healthier option.
