Description
Delightful bite-sized donuts that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, perfect for snacking or sharing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp instant yeast
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Mix the wet ingredients: In a bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let the mixture rest for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- Combine the dry ingredients: Whisk together the flour and salt, then pour in the yeast mixture and melted butter. Blend until soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough: Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let it rise: Cover in a greased bowl and let rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Shape the bites: Punch dough down, pinch off small pieces, and roll into bite-sized balls.
- Heat the oil: In a deep pot, heat oil to around 350°F (175°C).
- Fry until golden: Drop the dough balls into hot oil, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Coat while warm: Roll in sugar or a sugar-cinnamon mix for sweetness.
Notes
Make ahead by prepping the dough a day before and refrigerating it. For a healthier option, consider using an air fryer.
