Ingredients

- 2 cups warm water
- 2 1/4 tsp yeast
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: Combine the warm water, yeast, and honey in a large mixing bowl and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
- Mix in the goodness: Add olive oil, salt, and flour gradually, stirring until it forms a soft dough.
- Knead your dough: Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let it rise: Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
- Shape the buns: Punch down the dough, divide into 10-12 portions, and shape into oval buns.
- Second rise: Lay shaped buns on a lined baking sheet and cover, allowing to rise for another 30 to 45 minutes.
- Bake to perfection: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and bake for about 15 minutes until light golden brown.
- Finishing touch: Brush with melted butter right after baking to keep them soft.
Notes
You can prepare the dough in advance and refrigerate overnight before baking. Customize the buns with seeds or herbs on top for added flavor.
