Description

A comforting and delicious homemade lasagna with layers of seasoned ground beef, creamy ricotta, and melted mozzarella.


Ingredients

  • Lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 28 oz Crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Fresh basil
  • 1 tsp Fresh oregano
  • 15 oz Ricotta cheese
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown the beef: Heat skillet over medium heat, add ground beef, chopped onions, and minced garlic. Sauté until beef is golden brown and onions are translucent.
  2. Stir in tomatoes and herbs; simmer for about 30 minutes.
  3. Prepare the ricotta mixture: Combine ricotta cheese with the beaten egg and half of the parmesan in a mixing bowl.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Layer lasagna: Place noodles in baking dish, add a layer of meat sauce, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes until top is golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
  6. Cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Allow the lasagna to rest after baking for easier slicing. Lasagna can be assembled a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
