Description

Delicious fluffy rolls that are perfect for any occasion, filled with buttery richness and a hint of sweetness.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: Pour warm water into a mixing bowl, sprinkle yeast and sugar on top, and let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the salt, softened butter, and beaten egg to the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until elastic and smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the rolls: Punch down the dough, divide into 12 pieces, and shape into balls.
  6. Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and allow to rise for another 30–40 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Brush the tops with melted butter once out of the oven, if desired.

Notes

You can substitute instant yeast for active dry yeast and adjust the recipe accordingly. For a vegan option, replace butter with coconut oil and use a flax egg.
