Description

A quick and easy chocolate cake made in a microwave, perfect for satisfying sweet cravings.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 4 to 6 1 oz. squares semisweet baking chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons strong black coffee or Kahlua (optional)
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups finely crushed Oreos
  • 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter, melted
  • Whipped cream or dessert topping for serving

Instructions

  1. Combine the finely crushed Oreos with the melted butter in a small bowl and stir until damp.
  2. Press the mixture into the bottom of your microwave-safe mug to create a crust.
  3. Microwave the semisweet chocolate squares for 30 seconds until melted, then stir until smooth.
  4. Whisk together the heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, powdered sugar, cornstarch, salt, egg yolks, and vanilla in another bowl.
  5. Pour the melted chocolate into the mixture gradually, stirring constantly.
  6. Add the optional coffee or Kahlua if desired.
  7. Pour the chocolate filling over your prepared crust in the mug.
  8. Microwave on high for 60-90 seconds, checking after 60 seconds for doneness.
  9. Top with whipped cream or dessert topping and serve warm.

Notes

Grease your mug to prevent sticking, and avoid overmixing the batter.
