Description

A comforting and savory crockpot dish featuring tender strips of sirloin steak, colorful bell peppers, and a rich sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs sirloin steak (cut into strips)
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ⅔ cup hot water & 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 can (14.5 oz diced tomatoes)
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 2 bell peppers (sliced)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sirloin strips and sauté until nicely browned on all sides. Set aside.
  2. Dissolve the beef bouillon cube in hot water in a small bowl. Whisk in the cornstarch until fully combined and smooth.
  3. Pour the bouillon mixture into the crockpot. Add the soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, diced tomatoes, and freshly ground black pepper. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Throw in the chopped onions and the seared beef into the crockpot. Stir to combine thoroughly.
  5. Cover the crockpot and set it to cook on high for 3 hours or low for 6–7 hours.
  6. Add the sliced bell peppers about an hour before serving, stirring them in.
  7. Ladle the finished pepper steak over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes, and serve hot.
