- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1–2 jalapeños, sliced
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken in buttermilk for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best results).
- Mix the dry ingredients (flour, cornmeal, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper) in a shallow dish.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk, letting the excess drip off.
- Dredge each chicken piece in the flour mixture until thoroughly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Fry the chicken pieces for about 6-8 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Add sliced jalapeños in the last few minutes of frying to enhance flavor.
- Remove chicken and jalapeños and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot and enjoy!

For a healthier option, consider air frying at 375°F for about 15-18 minutes. Marinate overnight for richer flavor.
