Description

Indulge in the luscious layers of Caramel Banana Pudding, where velvety vanilla custard meets the sweet, ripe bananas and rich caramel sauce. Each spoonful offers a delightful contrast of creamy texture and a burst of caramel flavor that dances on your palate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Pudding:
    • 2 cups whole milk
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup cornstarch
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Caramel Sauce:
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 1/2 cup heavy cream
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For Assembly:
    • 4 ripe bananas, sliced
    • 1 package of vanilla wafers

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, sugar, cornstarch, and salt over medium heat until the mixture thickens and bubbles, about 10-12 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let the pudding cool slightly.
  3. In a separate saucepan, prepare the caramel sauce by melting the sugar over medium heat until it turns a deep amber color, about 8-10 minutes. Stir in the butter until melted, then carefully add the heavy cream and salt, stirring until smooth.
  4. To assemble, layer the vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding in a serving dish. Drizzle with caramel sauce between layers.
  5. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of pudding on top.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • This pudding can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half of the heavy cream with additional milk.
