Description

A flavor-packed, crispy chalupa filled with seasoned beef, fresh veggies, and rich sour cream for a delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • Oil for frying
  • Lettuce, for topping
  • Tomatoes, for topping
  • Cheddar cheese, for topping
  • Sour cream, for topping

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil and ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes, draining excess fat.
  2. Stir in taco seasoning and water, allowing the mixture to simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Gradually add vegetable oil and milk to form a dough and knead until soft.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface, cutting into circles about 4–5 inches wide.
  5. Fry each dough circle in hot oil over medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove fried shells and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  7. Assemble chalupas with seasoned beef, lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and sour cream.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Prepare the beef mixture ahead of time for deeper flavor. Can also use ground turkey or vegetarian meat alternatives.
