  • 1 box Duncan Hines Butter Recipe Cake Mix
  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream (room temperature)
  • 1 stick (½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature)
  • 5 large eggs (room temperature)
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon butter flavoring
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup lemon juice (fresh is best)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and grease your bundt or loaf pan.
  2. Combine the cake mix, cake flour, and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Blend together the eggs, sour cream, butter, oil, and water in a separate bowl using an electric mixer until smooth.
  4. Incorporate the dry mixture into the wet mixture gradually, mixing just until combined.
  5. Finish with the vanilla, almond extract, and butter flavoring, folding gently.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Whisk together the powdered sugar and lemon juice for the glaze while the cake cools.
  9. Invert the cake onto a wire rack after cooling for 10 minutes and drizzle the glaze generously over the top.
