Description

Delightful toffee apples coated in a rich, nostalgic toffee, perfect for autumn gatherings and festive occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 small apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vinegar
  • Red food coloring (optional)
  • Wooden sticks or skewers

Instructions

  1. Prep your apples: Wash and dry the apples, then insert a stick in each apple.
  2. Combine ingredients: In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, water, corn syrup, and vinegar. Stir over medium heat until dissolved.
  3. Bring to a boil: Increase heat and bring the mixture to a boil without stirring.
  4. Monitor temperature: Use a candy thermometer to cook until it reaches 300°F.
  5. Color with care: If using, add red food coloring and stir carefully.
  6. Dip the apples: Hold each apple by the stick and dip into the hot toffee, letting excess drip off.
  7. Cool and enjoy: Place dipped apples on a lined baking sheet to cool and set.

Notes

Ensure apples are completely dry before dipping, and watch the temperature closely to avoid crystallization.
