Ingredients
- Sweet Potatoes: 2 large, peeled and thinly sliced
- Pears: 2 ripe, peeled and thinly sliced
- Heavy Cream: 1 cup
- Thyme: 2 tablespoons, fresh and chopped
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Salt: 1 teaspoon
- Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon
- Parmesan Cheese: 1 cup, grated
- Butter: 2 tablespoons, for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- In a large bowl, combine the sweet potatoes, pears, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Layer half of the sweet potato and pear mixture in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Pour half of the heavy cream over the first layer.
- Sprinkle half of the Parmesan cheese on top.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining sweet potato and pear mixture, cream, and cheese.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the sweet potatoes are tender.
Notes
- This dish can be prepared a day in advance; simply cover and refrigerate before baking.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a non-dairy alternative.
