  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass.
  8. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden.
  9. To make the frosting, beat together the powdered sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Frost the cooled cookies with the vanilla buttercream.

Notes

  • For a fun twist, add sprinkles on top of the frosting.
