- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup active sourdough starter
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Combine the active sourdough starter, warm water, sugar, and olive oil in a large mixing bowl and mix well.
- Add in the flour and salt gradually, stirring until a coarse dough forms.
- Dust a clean surface with flour, turn the dough out, and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Form the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl; cover with a damp cloth and let it rise for 4-6 hours.
- Once risen, punch down the dough to release air and reshape it into a loaf.
- Transfer the dough to a greased loaf pan and let it rise again for 1-2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Allow to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
If preparing for a special occasion, let the dough rise overnight in the fridge. You can use the air fryer if lacking an oven, adjusting cooking times as necessary.
