  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Juice and zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 12 ounces bowtie (farfalle) pasta
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for topping)

Instructions

  1. Cook the bowtie pasta according to the package instructions, tossing in the broccoli during the last 2-3 minutes of cooking. Drain and save 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season chicken with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes until golden. Remove and let rest before slicing.
  3. Melt butter in the same skillet and sauté minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and zest; cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until bubbling.
  5. Add sliced chicken, cooked pasta, and broccoli to the skillet. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water gradually until coated.
  6. Stir in Parmesan, parsley, and chives until cheese melts. Serve hot with extra Parmesan.

Notes

For a healthier version, consider air frying the chicken or adding seasonal vegetables. Reserve pasta water to achieve desired sauce consistency.
