Description

Rice paper dumplings are delicate, translucent parcels that burst with flavor and texture. Each bite reveals a juicy filling, complemented by a creamy dipping sauce that enhances the overall experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Dumplings:
    • 10 rice paper wrappers
    • 1 cup cooked shrimp, chopped
    • 1 cup shredded cabbage
    • 1/2 cup grated carrots
    • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
    • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • For the Dipping Sauce:
    • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
    • 1 tablespoon peanut butter
    • 1 tablespoon water
    • 1 teaspoon lime juice

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the shrimp, cabbage, carrots, green onions, cilantro, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well.
  2. Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the water for about 10 seconds until it softens.
  3. Place the softened wrapper on a clean surface and add 2 tablespoons of the filling mixture in the center.
  4. Fold the sides of the wrapper over the filling, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to the top.
  5. Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  6. For the dipping sauce, whisk together hoisin sauce, peanut butter, water, and lime juice until smooth.
  7. Serve the dumplings with the dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • Make-ahead: You can prepare the dumplings a few hours in advance and store them in the refrigerator, covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out.
  • Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  • Substitutions: Use tofu or mushrooms for a vegetarian option, or substitute the shrimp with chicken or pork.
