Description

Indulge in the nostalgic sweetness of homemade Molasses Pull Taffy, infused with rich molasses and buttery flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups molasses
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine molasses, sugar, butter, and salt in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir occasionally until the mixture reaches 250°F (the hard ball stage) on your candy thermometer.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the mixture onto a greased marble slab or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool slightly (about 5-10 minutes) until it’s warm but manageable.
  6. Pull and fold the taffy with buttered hands until glossy and lighter in color.
  7. Shape it into a log or cut into pieces and wrap in wax paper.

Notes

Taffy lasts up to two weeks when stored properly. Experiment with flavors by substituting vanilla extract.
