Description

These Maple Donut Bars are a delightful treat, featuring a soft, cake-like texture that melts in your mouth. The rich maple glaze adds a sweet, buttery flavor that perfectly complements the warm, spiced undertones of the bars, making them an irresistible indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Bars:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • For the Maple Glaze:
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. While the bars are baking, prepare the maple glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  8. Once the bars are done, allow them to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Drizzle the maple glaze over the warm bars and let it set before slicing.

Notes

  • These bars can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • For longer storage, freeze the unglazed bars for up to 2 months. Thaw and glaze before serving.
  • You can substitute almond milk for buttermilk for a dairy-free option.
  • For a richer flavor, consider adding chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
