These Homemade Soft Pretzel Bites are a delightful combination of warm, crispy exteriors and irresistibly chewy interiors. Each bite is infused with a hint of salt and a buttery flavor that makes them perfect for snacking or dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Dough:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
    • 1/2 cup warm water (110°F)
    • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
    • 1/2 tsp salt
  • For the Baking Soda Bath:
    • 1/4 cup baking soda
    • 2 cups water
  • For Topping:
    • Coarse sea salt, to taste
    • 2 tbsp melted butter, for brushing

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. In a pot, bring 2 cups of water and 1/4 cup baking soda to a boil.
  7. Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each into a bite-sized ball.
  8. Boil the pretzel bites in the baking soda bath for 30 seconds, then remove and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
