Ingredients

- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring until it reaches the soft ball stage (around 240°F).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and food coloring if desired.
- Pour the mixture onto a greased surface and let it cool slightly.
- Once cool enough to handle, begin pulling the taffy until it becomes light in color and fluffy.
- Form the taffy into long ropes and cut into bite-sized pieces.
- Wrap each piece in wax paper to keep them fresh.
