Description
These Grilled Za’atar Tofu Skewers are a flavorful delight, marinated in a fragrant za’atar spice blend and grilled to perfection, making them a perfect dish for summer gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 14 oz firm tofu
- 2 tablespoons za’atar spice blend
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 lemon (juiced)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Skewers (wooden or metal)
Instructions
- Press the tofu: Begin by pressing your tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap it in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy plate on top for 15-30 minutes.
- Create the marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine za’atar, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Whisk well to create a beautiful aromatic mixture.
- Marinate the tofu: Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes. Gently toss the tofu with the marinade, ensuring every piece is generously coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the grill: Prepare your grill or grill pan by preheating it over medium heat.
- Skewer the tofu: Thread the marinated tofu cubes onto your skewers, keeping them snug but not overcrowded.
- Grill the skewers: Place your skewers on the grill. Grill for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the tofu is golden brown and beautifully charred.
- Serve and enjoy: Serve your skewers warm, preferably garnished with fresh herbs or a squeeze of lemon.
Notes
Press tofu adequately for better flavor absorption. Consider marinating overnight for enhanced flavor.
