Ingredients

Scale
  • Dough:
    • 4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
    • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
    • 2 tbsp sugar
    • 2 tsp salt
    • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Filling:
    • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Garlic Butter:
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 4 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tsp dried oregano
    • 1 tsp dried parsley

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  7. Flatten each piece and place a tablespoon of mozzarella filling in the center. Pinch the dough to seal.
  8. Roll each filled dough ball into a knot shape and place on a greased baking sheet.
  9. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, garlic, oregano, and parsley. Brush the garlic butter over each knot.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
