Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients.
  4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Incorporate dried fruits and nuts into the dough.
  6. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  7. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
  8. Place the loaf in a greased baking pan and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let it cool before slicing and serving.
