Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup active sourdough starter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and water in a large mixing bowl, stirring until no dry flour remains. Let it rest for about 30 minutes.
  2. Incorporate the active sourdough starter and salt, mixing until well combined.
  3. Let the dough rise at room temperature for 8-12 hours, until it doubles in size.
  4. Shape the dough on a floured surface, gently stretching and folding it into a round loaf.
  5. Place the loaf on floured parchment paper, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise for another 1-2 hours.
  6. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat up.
  7. Bake covered for 30 minutes in the preheated Dutch oven.
  8. Uncover and continue to bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool on a wire rack for at least an hour before slicing.
