Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the icing, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Add food coloring if desired.
- Once cookies are cool, drizzle icing over the top and let set before serving.
