Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cookies:
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For the Icing:
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  6. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. For the icing, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Add food coloring if desired.
  10. Once cookies are cool, drizzle icing over the top and let set before serving.
