Ingredients

Scale
  • Dough:
    • 4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1 cup whole milk, warmed to 110°F
    • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 2 large eggs
  • Filling:
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
    • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • Icing:
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 2 tbsp milk
    • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture, then gradually mix in flour until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle (about 16×12 inches) and spread softened butter over the surface.
  7. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over the buttered dough.
  8. Roll the dough tightly from the long side and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before icing.
  11. For the icing, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth, then drizzle over the warm rolls.

Notes

  • These rolls can be made ahead of time; prepare the dough and filling, then refrigerate overnight before baking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute almond milk and coconut oil for the butter and milk.
