Description
Tender beef chuck roast braised to perfection, served in crusty French rolls with flavorful au jus.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 – 3 lb beef chuck roast
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 French rolls
- Provolone or Swiss cheese (optional)
- Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the roast: Place the beef chuck roast into your crockpot, ensuring it sits nicely at the bottom.
- Add aromatics: Layer the sliced onion and minced garlic atop the beef, allowing their flavors to meld into the meat.
- Pour in liquids: Add the beef broth and water, followed by Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
- Set to cook: Cover your crockpot and let it work its magic. Cook on low for 480 minutes or high for 240 minutes, or until the meat shreds easily with forks.
- Shred the beef: Remove the roast from the slow cooker. Use two forks to shred the beef into glorious chunks.
- Return and combine: Toss the shredded beef back into the crockpot, combining it with the flavorful juices.
- Assemble your sandwiches: Fill each French roll with the shredded beef, layering with cheese if desired. Generously ladle some of that luscious au jus over the top.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle fresh parsley over your sandwiches for both flavor and presentation.
Notes
You can swap beef chuck for brisket or use low-sodium broth if you prefer. Make-ahead options are available to streamline your cooking.
