Description
Indulge in crispy chicken wonton tacos, a delightful twist on traditional tacos with marinated chicken and refreshing coleslaw in a crispy shell.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil (divided)
- 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 cups coleslaw mix (cabbage and carrots)
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp honey
- 12 wonton wrappers
- 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, combine the sliced chicken with teriyaki sauce, 1/2 tbsp of sesame oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Let sit for at least 10 minutes.
- Cook the chicken: Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken and sauté for 5-7 minutes until fully cooked and golden.
- Prepare the coleslaw: In a separate bowl, toss together the coleslaw mix, green onions, rice vinegar, honey, and remaining sesame oil.
- Fry the wonton wrappers: In a clean skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Lightly fry each wonton wrapper for about 20-30 seconds on each side until golden crisp. Drain on paper towels.
- Assemble your tacos: Fill each crispy wonton with a couple of pieces of chicken, a scoop of coleslaw, drizzle sweet chili sauce, and sprinkle with sesame seeds and cilantro.
Notes
You can marinate the chicken the night before for deeper flavors. Avoid overloading wontons to prevent them from bursting.
