Description

A hearty and comforting dish made with ground meat, vegetables, and topped with creamy mashed potatoes.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  3. Add ground meat and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in carrots, peas, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Top with mashed potatoes, spreading them out to cover the meat mixture completely.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute ground meat with lentils or mushrooms.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like corn or green beans.
