- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp vanilla extract
- 2–3 tbsp milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and eggs to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter over it.
- Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the buttered dough.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk to create the glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use whole milk instead of skim milk.
- These rolls can be prepared the night before and baked in the morning.
- Feel free to add nuts or raisins for extra texture.
