A hearty and comforting Christmas Eve Lasagna with layers of rich meats, creamy cheeses, and tangy marinara, perfect for festive gatherings.

- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- Brown the ground beef and Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium heat; drain excess fat.
- Mix the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl until smooth.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Layer three noodles over the sauce.
- Add half of the ricotta filling over the noodles.
- Follow with half of the meat mixture.
- Sprinkle a third of the mozzarella cheese on top.
- Repeat the layers with more noodles, the remaining ricotta mixture, the meat mixture, and another third of mozzarella.
- Finish with the final three noodles, the remaining marinara sauce, and the rest of the mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle Parmesan on top.
- Bake covered with foil for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
- Rest the lasagna for a few minutes before slicing; garnish with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
This lasagna can be prepared a day in advance and baked the next day for convenience. Use fresh herbs for enhanced flavor.
