  • 4 Tenderized Beef Steaks (cube steak preferred)
  • 1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Buttermilk
  • Oil for Frying
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 1/4 Cup Chicken Broth
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons All-Purpose Flour for Gravy
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the breading stations by mixing flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder in one bowl and whisking eggs and buttermilk in another.
  2. Dip each tenderized steak into the buttermilk mixture, letting excess drip off.
  3. Coat generously with the flour mixture, pressing it into the meat for a satisfying crust.
  4. Heat oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and fry the steaks for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. Remove the steaks and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. Melt butter in the skillet, whisk in flour to form a roux, then gradually add milk and chicken broth, stirring until thickened.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve the steaks topped with the creamy gravy.

Notes

For a healthier option, try using an air fryer instead of frying. Make the gravy in advance to save time.
