Ingredients

  • Sweet Potatoes: 4 medium, peeled and thinly sliced
  • Heavy Cream: 2 cups
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese: 2 cups, grated
  • Parmesan Cheese: 1 cup, grated
  • Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
  • Butter: 2 tablespoons, for greasing
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg: 1/4 teaspoon
  • Breadcrumbs: 1 cup, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  3. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat and add minced garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir until warmed through.
  4. Layer half of the sweet potato slices in the baking dish, followed by half of the cheese mixture (1 cup cheddar and 1/2 cup parmesan).
  5. Pour half of the cream mixture over the first layer.
  6. Repeat the layering process with the remaining sweet potatoes, cheese, and cream.
  7. Top with breadcrumbs and the remaining cheese.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the sweet potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
