- For the Dough:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water (110°F)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- For the Filling:
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- For the Topping:
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a separate bowl, mix together the mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic, parsley, and red pepper flakes.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Flatten each piece and place a spoonful of the cheese mixture in the center. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch to seal.
- Place the rolls seam-side down on a greased baking sheet. Brush with melted butter mixed with garlic powder and oregano.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
Notes
- These rolls can be made ahead of time and frozen before baking. Just thaw and bake when ready to serve.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a healthier option, substitute whole wheat flour for all-purpose flour.
