Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter and sauté the onions and garlic until translucent.
  3. Add the heavy cream and milk to the saucepan, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
  5. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
