Description

Indulge in the rich, creamy texture of the Cheesy Monterey Sausage Pie, where every bite bursts with savory flavors. The golden, flaky crust cradles a luscious filling of melted cheese and seasoned sausage, creating a delightful contrast that is both comforting and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Crust:
    • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 34 tablespoons ice water
  • Filling:
    • 1 pound ground sausage
    • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    • 4 large eggs
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt for the crust. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough forms a ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  5. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  6. Stir in the cooked sausage and cheeses until well combined.
  7. Roll out the chilled dough and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan. Pour the filling into the crust.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown. The pie should be slightly puffed and firm to the touch.
  9. Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
