Description

A warm, honey-golden loaf featuring rich caramel swirls and a luscious cream cheese filling that melts in your mouth.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups light brown sugar, packed
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk or 2% milk
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 large egg (for filling)
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 1-pound loaf pans.
  2. Combine dry ingredients in a medium bowl: brown sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Mix wet ingredients in a large bowl or stand mixer: eggs, milk, and vegetable oil.
  4. Combine the mixtures by gradually adding dry to wet ingredients, stirring gently.
  5. Layer half of the batter in the prepared loaf pans.
  6. Prepare the cream cheese filling by beating together cream cheese, granulated sugar, and egg until smooth.
  7. Fill the pans by spooning the cream cheese mixture down the center of each batter layer.
  8. Top with the remaining batter and drizzle caramel sauce, swirling it gently.
  9. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.
  10. Cool the loaves in pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack.

Notes

For make-ahead tips, prepare the batter a day in advance. This recipe can also be adapted for gluten-free diets using a gluten-free flour blend.
