- 4 medium yams (sweet potatoes)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup water
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C), filling your kitchen with anticipation.
- Peel and slice the yams into 1/2 inch thick rounds.
- Melt the butter in a large bowl and mix in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Add the sliced yams to the bowl and toss until they’re thoroughly coated in the buttery mixture.
- Arrange the yams in a baking dish and pour the remaining butter mixture over the top.
- Drizzle the water around the edges of the yams.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes undisturbed.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, basting occasionally with the syrupy glaze.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Make-ahead: Prepare the yams up to a day in advance and store them in the fridge. Baste halfway through cooking for even caramelization.
