Description

Delightful candied orange peel coated in rich chocolate, perfect for gifting or enjoying with a cup of tea.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large oranges
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 8 oz dark or milk chocolate

Instructions

  1. Peel the oranges and cut the peels into thin strips, removing some of the bitter white pith if desired.
  2. In a saucepan, mix equal parts sugar and water and heat until the sugar dissolves to create syrup.
  3. Add orange peel strips to the syrup and simmer on low heat for about 45 minutes until tender and translucent.
  4. Remove the peels with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.
  5. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave until smooth.
  6. Dip each candied peel into the melted chocolate, coating them well.
  7. Set the chocolate-covered peels on parchment paper to harden completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. For two months, refrigerate them.
