Description

Butter Chicken (Murgh Makhani) is a rich and creamy Indian dish made with marinated chicken cooked in a spiced tomato sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken, boneless and skinless
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken in yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, garam masala, turmeric, and red chili powder for at least 1 hour.
  2. Heat butter in a pan and sauté the chopped onion until golden brown.
  3. Add the marinated chicken and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in the tomato puree and simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  6. Season with salt and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, increase the amount of red chili powder.
  • Serve with naan or rice for a complete meal.
